Making work fun is not an easy task. We need to consider the fact that certain colleagues can make or break whether or not your day-to-day is something you won’t complain on Facebook later. And alcohol at the workplace is definitely a no-no.

The best analogy I can come up with is that work is like the treadmill sitting in your living room collecting dust. You know it’s good for you. You don’t necessarily love it. You might stub your toe on it and acknowledge it with a 4-letter word vocabulary. You’ll avoid it. Make excuses to do it later.

However…

Once you put your head down, determined to take on the day, and you run three miles on it - you’ll probably feel the greatest you’ve felt in a long time.

What I’m saying is work is a means to an end. My advice to making work fun isn’t having a crazy hat day - it is to simply do it. I believe we are all inherently fun-loving. The fun in work should just come naturally.

You just need to take that first step.

This post is an entry for the Make work fun contest being hosted by pfl.com

New DC Comics Logo

What say you about the new DC Comics logo? I think seeing its placement on the actual comics looks nice — on its own, they look kinda weird. Neat that they have their own variations based on the character.

It would have looked bad if I didn’t have anything for new 2011, so I’ve put up a bunch of new work, (much of it recent) in the Print & Web section of my portfolio. Still not a whole lot in the way of illustration—but maybe I can turn that around soon! Enjoy!

Wouldn’t it be grand if I could post this…and have it travel to Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Facespace, and Mybook? Maybe…maybe not. One can try…

Well, it’s only the third time within a year that my site changed its appearance. In addition to some new pieces, there’s a smoother navigation and some good information for prospective clients looking to hire me. We shall see how it goes…I think this new look is a shell this little crab will stick with for awhile.

(Sorry, metaphors aren’t really my thing.)

Almost brings a tear to my eye. Although I don’t have any new work up on the ol’ website since last year, it’s still pretending to look busy with a snazzy new look. Enjoy! bradhortonart.com

As the end of summer approaches, my website has shed its skin to reveal a new form underneath. Also, website skin is hard to clean up. Enjoy!

As you may have seen, the ol’ site is getting it’s semi-yearly make over. Stay tuned for updates. New artwork is coming soon, too!

Whipped this up in about a half hour-from my warped semi-political-agenda-ed brain.

Now on my website, too.

Here are some rough sketches for an upcoming project. There’s an obvious quasi-political angle I’m going for. Look for the finished version here and my website.

Haven’t updated in a LONG time, so here is a collection of sketches for Domino Lady, an upcoming anthology project with writer Percival Constantine. You’ll notice the title character may or may not have a striking resemblance to my wife…

I will post more as things develop.

Enjoy!
